A great new TV show idea or a fool and his money are soon departed

I'm not sure what to think about this story.

Part of me says "Serves you right!"

Part of me would be quite pissed off if I was part of the community that worked so hard to build that house.

Part of me thinks, "This is why is rarely watch network TV."

Another example that proves the adage, "You can't legislate stupidity." No matter what local, state or federal government laws are passed to help homeowners in this time of economic crisis; stupid people will always do stupid things. Like the writer of the article said, "Where's the cameras now?"

Okay, so it's been almost a month and a half since my last post. I know my loyal reader(s) have been in breathless anticipation of what I've been doing. Who am I to deny the masses?
  • Work was crazy for about a month. We had our corporate quality audit 2 weeks ago and all of the preparation has paid off! In 2007 (our first year doing the audit) we came in at a 61% (76% is needed to pass). This year do to much hard work and long hours we blew it away at a 90%! One of the largest jumps in the whole company and a real testament to the hard work put in the last 6 months.
  • Kimberly graduated nursing school last week! She takes the state boards today, so hopefully by tonight she'll be a licensed nurse! Then off to the job market!
  • I took a week's vacation when Kimberly graduated because her parents came out to visit and see the ceremony. My father in law (Joe) is quite the DIY guru. We added a ceiling light fixture to our new shower to you can see yourself get clean now. He gave me a great home electrical primer and now I feel confident that I can tackle a few more job..... add GFCI breakers to the breaker box, add a vent fan to the laundry room and possibly change a circuit or 2 around the house. I also fixed the drain in the new bathroom, replaced the drain the master bedroom bath and finally found the color to paint the new bathroom (a color we already had sitting around).
  • As far as the Victory Garden 2008 goes....... The green beans are still harvesting. We must have had about 3 gallons or so from the two 12' rows. My tomato plants dies of verticillium wilt. The cucumbers I planted in June are flowering. The second planting of zucchini is also flowering (the first plants died shortly after the first fruits). The Alma Paprika pepper plants (say that 5 times fast) are starting to fruit.
  • And as always, we're still working to track every dime we spend as part of getting our financial house in order. We slacked off the tracking in July but plan on becoming more anal about it in August. With Kimberly not having to drive to Orangeburg, SC 5 days a week, our gas bill should be more reasonable.

Anyway, that's the quick update for now. Pictures and more to follow soon.
