51 -75

  1. James - Laid - Loved it from the beginning.
  2. Suzanne Vega - Tom's Diner - The version with DNA not the album track
  3. Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the Name Of - I'm proud to day I was a Rage fan way ahead of everyone!
  4. Arlo Guthrie - City of new Orleans - Solid classic
  5. Pearl Jam - Evenflow - There may be better songs but this reminds me of senior year of HS and going to see them at Lollapalooza 2. Subsequent Lollapalooza concerts pale in comparison. Check out the bands.
  6. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Higher Ground - lots to choose here but the Mother's Milk album is my favorite
  7. The Rolling Stones - Brown Sugar - Classic
  8. The Who - 5:15 - Anything from Quadrophenia is excellent
  9. The Beach Boys - Good Vibrations - NPR did a story about this song as part of their top 100 back in 2001. It's quite the tale. I remember hearing the original broadcasts 6 years ago but looking over the list I find I have 6 of their 100 on my list and a few other singers too. Make the time to listen to this and some of the other interviews!! Oh, and send in your pledges too!
  10. Simon & Garfunkle - Kadochrome
  11. David Bowie - Heroes - Don't try do out sing Bowie on this.
  12. Joni Mitchell - Big Yellow Taxi - Same as above. Why do people insist on remakinging great songs when there are so many sucky ones you could remake better (see the leamonheads)
  13. Sheena Easton - Morning Train - You just can't help singing along
  14. Cheap Trick - Surrender - Live version only please. 70's stadium rock at its best!
  15. Luscious Jackson - Naked Eye - Fabulous song.... Currently my cell phone ringer.
  16. The Jesus & Mary Chain - Sometimes Always
  17. Barry White - Just the way you are - He does this better than Billy Joel. And he's cooler.
  18. Lemonheads - Luka - One of the best remakes EVER! You've never heard this song like this before.
  19. Ringo Starr - The No No Song - You would think there would be more rock songs centered on this theme. It Don't Come Easy is a close second
  20. Steely Dan - FM - Groovy Stuff
  21. Talking Heads - Once in a Lifetime - Otherwise known as the soundtrack to my life. Listen to the NPR story on this song too. Another hard time choosing just one song. If you don't have it, pick up the Sand in the Vaseline double CD. Awesome stuff.
  22. Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals - Steal my Kisses - Wish he got more airplay.
  23. Phish - Cities - With all of the live stuff to choose from I pick this studio track for my favorite, even though it is a Talking Head cover. Or maybe because it is a Talking Heads cover.
  24. Hall & Oats - Rich Girl - The Hall & Oats greatest hits CD is AWESOME!
  25. Duran Duran - Hungry Like The Wolf - Another awesome greatest hits CD. The Old Spice commercial featuring the guy at the piano playing this song in hilarious!!

Barry White isn't cooler than Billy Joel. He's deader. And Joel wrote the song to begin with- that's very cool

I was going to say a lot, but really, it comes down to two things:
1) I Love that morning train is on the list. The seinfeld episode where kramer has the fake job and this plays is one of the best seinfeld moments.
2)Rich Girl. Booyah.

Hello. "Pickles and Beer" has been a silly little comment I'd been making for years. Don't know why. Just something goofy I'd say, like at the end of an email or whenever, to punctuate the "normalcy" of a situation.
For instance:
"Nice weather we're having, eh?"
"Yeah, good that the cold front finally left us."
"See you on Saturday?"
"Yeah, ok... pickles and beer, pickles and beer."
Ha ha.

p.s. Good luck w/ your budgeting.
